I'm sure that Kate Del Castillo knew her epic rant/proclamation was going to make everybody flip their wig -- and it has. Even her own family is having a hard time making sense of it. Eric Del Castillo, her famous novela dad, seems to support Kate:

"All of you, the new generations, are tired of corruption and deceit; of dishonest politicians. You're looking for and demand transparency. That's what Kate was referring to."

Veronica Del Castillo, Kate's sisters who's also a well-known reporter (Primer Impacto, Televisa), does not:

"What happened between my sister and I is what happens in this country: diverse opinions. Sometimes those opinions clash, but that's what's important; even if we don't agree, we should come together to help those who need it the most."

Veronica's vague statements go on but she basically says she loves Kate even though she doesn't support her sister's POV.

Most people are having a hard time taking Kate seriously because her rant is very punk rock, yet, Kate has never been anything but a Televisa actress (so a tool, basically). But everything she wrote -- including the obvious and hokey spiritual parts -- is on-point. A frustrated woman venting out, Kate does a good job at pinpointing what ails not just her, but many women in general: the pressures of marriage, family values, repressed sexuality, etc.

It's true that's she's all over the place with her argument but, again, it's a rant. And there's one particular part that's been ruffling feathers the world over:

Mr. Chapo [Guzman], wouldn't it be great if you started trafficking with what's right? With cures for diseases, food for the needy, with alcohol for the seniors at the old forks home's were some aren't allowed to spend their last days doing whatever fuck they want, with corrupt politicians and not with women and kids that end up like slaves? Burning all those whore houses where women aren't worth more than a pack of cigarettes. Without an offer there's no demand, come on, mister. You can be the heroes of heroes. Let's traffic with love, you know how to do it.

Calling on a powerful drug lord to do good things is, according to Kate's detractors such as journalist Carlos Marin, a fucked up thing to do. But is it? When narco-related violence is worse than ever and your own government is just sitting around with its finger up its ass, is calling one of the richest and most powerful men in Mexico to do something right -- even is he's part of the problem -- that far-fetched? Fuck it, ¿que no? Going on about it "the right way" hasn't fixed much, so why not try something out of the box, right?

But fixing Mexico's fucked up narco situation is not what this post is about. This post is about the repercussions of Kate Del Castillo's rant which, almost two weeks later, our hentei still don't know what to make of it. Rodner Figueroa, Univision's "fashionista," for example, thinks Kate was just drunk off her ass when she decided to tell it like it is:

Don't worry, Kate. I think most people "get you." The ones that don't are just assholes.
